How Can I Find Out What The Healthy Weight Is For My Height & Age?

This describes the cheapest and easiest do it yourself method to calculate and know if you are at the optimum healthy weight level suitable for your height and age.

Body Mass Index

This is the easiest way to measure whether you are at the healthy weight category for your age and height. This method was developed in 1850 and is calculated by dividing the weight of the person by their height in square meters. A normal BMI should read between 18.5 and 24.5. Anything that goes over or under this indicates the individual is either over or under weight. If the BMI is 16 or less the individual is severely underweight but if it is 40 and over then the person is considered morbidly obese.

Basal Metabolic Rate

This amount is needed by the body in order to produce the energy it needs to function properly. This varies but is calculated based on a person’s gender, age, weight, and height. It is effective in knowing how many calories the individual needs to maintain healthy weight. This metabolic rate can be increased or decreased depending on the amount of physical activity. If the person is active or in an occupation like construction that requires a lot of energy their BMR is increased. If on the contrary the person is dormant then their BMR is decreased which leads to more food being stored resulting in weight gain.

Walking Up the Stairs

This small work out allows the individual to judge for themselves how healthy they are. If the person can walk up several flights of stairs without much strain then they are probably within the healthy weight for their age and height. It is a simple test but if the person were over or under weight, it would not be as easy.

  1. Hello, thanks for that. I also have a unique view to the predicament. I think artificial solutions for weight reduction are more effective. Because top gurus make experiments in labs and bring all the components to help much better weight reduction. I saw fat burner called Phen375 is assisting individuals to lose weight since it is artificial and work better than organic weight loss supplements.
