Is Social Security Really In A Crisis?

The real answer to an often asked question. “Is Social Security Really In A Crisis?” Yes is the only answer that satisfies that question.

With all the focus today on the economy, many folks are wondering whether they will be able to make ends meet even though they have made retirement plans in advance. Usually those plans include Social Security benefits that the modern day worker has been paying into for their lifetime of working. The question here is “Is Social Security really in a crisis?

Is Social Security really in a crisis?

The simple answer is YES. Social Security has been on the verge of going bankrupt for several decades. That is what happens when the government “borrows” funds from one program to use it for other entitlement programs. What they have been doing is robbing Peter to pay Paul and Peter will never be paid back. That is the nature of robbery, and the government is very good at that.

What can I do now?

For an individual who is still young enough, it is best to begin by opening up a special retirement fund being careful where that money goes because the government has been threatening to raid retirement funds to fund some of their pet entitlement projects. Yes it sounds crazy but when politicians get desperate they might just do anything to placate their constituents into reelecting them even if that means they will redistribute other people’s wealth.

What if I am close to the age of drawing my Social Security?

If an individual is already close to the age of retirement and should be able to draw Social Security benefits it might be a good idea to start praying. Hopefully there is a backup plan already in place rather than having to rely entirely upon Social Security.

Is Social Security really in a crisis?

YES. That’s what happens when those in charge have no control over their spending habits.
