The usual enrollment period to sign up for Medicare Part B is January 1st through March 31st. signing up late for Medicare Part B will cost a penalty fee. What is the Special Enrollment for International Volunteers?



There is an enrollment period specifically earmarked for International Volunteers. Those who are working outside of the united states- for tax-exempt organizations- will not be penalized if they join late. They will be allowed to sign up when they are no longer volunteering outside of the U.S. They will also be eligible to enroll if they do not have health insurance outside of the United States. They can also sign up when the sponsoring organization they have been working for is no longer tax-exempt. Those who have Medicare due to End-State Renal Disease are eligible to sign up for Part B when they enroll in Part A.
