Why Can’t I Get Medigap Insurance?

What Is Medigap Insurance?

Medigap insurance is something that is sold by private insurance companies to try to supplement what Medicare is offering to seniors. There are simply some things that are not covered in Medicare insurance. This means that some people are going to want to make sure that they buy this extra form of insurance to make sure that they have everything that they want covered.

Who Is Able To Get Medigap Insurance?

Usually Medigap insurance is something that is sold to those who are on Medicare or at least would be able to get Medicare. This means that namely it is seniors who are going to buy this kind of insurance. Most of the private insurance companies are not going to allow anyone below a certain age access to purchase their Medigap insurance. They assume that if you are someone who is young and attempting to buy this kind of insurance then there must be some kind of pre-existing condition that you are trying to get some coverage on. Since the company does not want to have to pay out if they do not have to, then they are not going to allow people below a certain age.

Why Have I Been Denied Access?

If you have been denied access to Medigap insurance, there could be a number of reasons. Any of the reasons that were discussed above could be playing a factor. There is also the possibility that you are just too much of a risk to the profit margin of the insurance company. In that case, you can be sure that you will be rejected in a heartbeat. You must remember that the insurance companies are in the business of making money, and if you are a threat to that, then they will not take you on.
