What Is The Best Medicare Supplement?

How can I augment my Medicare coverage with a plan I can afford?

What is the best Medicare supplement is a difficult question to answer because there are so many available at differing costs.

What Should I look For In Additional Medical Coverage?

When it comes to medical insurance, if you have Medicare Part A and Part B which covers hospital stays, doctors fees, and diagnostic testing, then you have primary insurance. That means when anything happens, Medicare will be billed first. However, there are some things Medicare does not cover at all and some things Medicare will not pay for entirely. The absolute best coverage in additional to Medicare is a secondary insurance policy. That is a policy that can stand alone and could be primary if you didn’t already have Medicare. This is best because it can pay for procedures that are not covered by Medicare in the first place. Naturally, these policies are more expensive than supplemental policies. Most often secondary policies are those policies you had at work that you were able to take with you when you retired. These generally offer the best protection.

How Do Supplemental Medicare Policies Work?

If you do not have or cannot afford a secondary policy, then a supplemental policy will have to do. Supplemental policies pay for what Medicare does not pay. For example, if a procedure costs $100, Medicare will generally pay about $80. If your provider accepts Medicare assignment then you will not be billed for the rest. Otherwise, you will be responsible for the $20 not paid by Medicare. A supplemental policy will pay that $20 for you. Also, most supplemental policies pay the Medicare deductible of about $150.00 per year. Unfortunately, if Medicare does not cover something at all, then neither does the supplemental policy. Medicare must pay something in order for the supplement to pay anything. When searching for a supplemental policy, be sure to compare prices, deductibles, and coverages.

  1. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

  2. Awsome post and straight to the point. I am not sure if this is really the best place to ask but do you folks have any thoughts on where to hire some professional writers? Thanks in advance :)
