Medicaid will cover a portion of the costs, but the rest of the fees must be paid from the children. It is best to put in place something now that can assist with the cost of future care. Medicaid and Medicare can assist with whatever cost is there and private insurance along with other programs built for the elderly. With both parents in an assisted living facility the costs will be great. The best way to prepare for this is to set up a fund for the parents for their future medical care just in case Medicare and Medicaid does not cover it.
