What is Assisted Living?
Do you have a loved one in need of help performing every day tasks? Are you afraid for their safety? You may want to look into assisted living.
What assisted living provides
Assisted living provides a safe environment for adults who need help with every day tasks such as dressing or taking medications, but don’t need full time care. It provides a sense of privacy and independence for the resident, while simultaneously ensuring their safety and well being.
The differences between assisted living and a nursing home
Assisted living facilities are designed more like apartments or town houses, where as the rooms in a nursing home are more like the rooms of a hospital. In an assisted living facility residents are free to leave on their own free will. The resident is much more independent than that of a nursing home. Assisted living also costs less than a nursing
home.
Services offered with assisted living
A dining hall serves three meals a day, residents have access to transportation to and from appointments, and nurses are on call twenty four hours a day to help residents with anything they may need. House keeping and laundry services are provided as well. The resident also has access to exercise programs and recreational activities.
How assisted living benefits the family of the resident
Assisted living benefits the resident in a number of ways, but it also benefits the resident’s loved ones. Assisted living facilities don’t have strict visiting hours, so family members can stop by as often as they like, which is a great comfort to the resident as well. The cost of assisted living is less than that of a nursing home, so assisted living gives the family less to worry about financially. The greatest benefit is that family members can sleep well knowing their loved one is safe.
