Do I Need A Caregiver As Well If I Reside In Assisted Living?

Assisted living is the answer to the prayers of many elderly.

A nursing home provides intense care for someone unable to take care of themselves. Meals are prepared for residents in nursing homes and they are provided with ’round the clock supervision from a trained medical staff. Assisted living communities provide care for those not able to live on their own, but do not need this kind of constant supervision.

Do I need a caregiver as well if I reside in assisted living?



Senior citizens in assisted living communities receive assistance with day to day activities, such as bathing, cooking, and cleaning. While not under constant surveillance, someone does check on residents at least once daily. For those with more extensive needs with these daily chores, a helper may stop in two to three times daily.

Assisted living provides an intermediate step between independent living and a nursing home.

As I get older, maybe I just need someone to drop in and be sure I’ve turned the stove off after cooking my meals. Maybe I have become forgetful and need help remembering to take a bath daily and keep on my laundry. Do I need a caregiver as well if I reside in assisted living? As long as I live in an assisted living community, I will not have to hire a personal caregiver as these services will already be provided to me.

There are different types of contracts available to one joining an assisted living community.

Contracts to live in an assisted living community pertain to how payment is processed and how long someone will be living there. Do I need a caregiver as well if I reside in assisted living? One will not need to look for clauses pertaining to this issue in any contracts being signed.
