Could America’s Seniors Affect The Health Care Bill?
Fear of having their Medicare taken away and leaving them stranded is silencing most seniors. Their health care bill will rise, they know, but mostly they fear losing benefits. Why argue with those who control the money flow? When the more responsive, knowledgeable, and capable health care oriented elders get a hand in their own care, the cost of care will come down. How?
Seniors Naturally Have More Health Problems
This ups the health care bill. Regardless of all the information and alerts coming their way about healthy eating, exercising, and screenings, many seniors ignore this. It,s not that they don’t care, it’/s that they prefer to remain independent and reality oriented and understanding of old age better than most. And, of course this attitude is costly. It does nothing to alter the health care bill. The more health conscious among the elders are those that will change mindsets.
Cut Out Unnecessary Imaging
Too much radiation among the elderly is not necessary, and is potentially harmful, and since this is one of the more expensive procedures, it should be used with caution. A better idea might be to use it less to check on progress once it has been used to diagnose the condition.
Seniors as Better Health Care Participants
A busy senior is a happy senior. Simply because a person is slowing down and is not as active they once were, does not mean the end of the road for them. Why not expect more out of them and stop frightening them about their health. Give them another unrelated hobby, lowering the cost of health care, and make health care for them a necessity but not a way of life and watch the cost of health care come down.
