China

This is the most populous nation on the earth and it is one of the top emerging markets for gold and other natural mineral resources. The Chinese gold market is growing at a steady pace due to its constant march towards industrialization. The Chinese population stands at slightly over one billion people and continues to grow. This provides a ready market for the mineral, both in industry and for investment. In the last year, China bought over 200 tons of gold from the IMF in order to stock pile its bank reserves.

India

This is also another Asian economy that has increased its consumption of gold. Traditionally, gold has always been used in India as a status symbol and continues to be used as such to date. The gold is used either as an ornament or for making different items of worship. India also acquired a huge amount of gold from the IMF last year for its own national reserves alongside Russia’s 111.8 tons.

U.S.A

This has been an old gold market for centuries. It continues to use gold bullion as part of its natural reserves. After the great depression of the 1920′s and early 30s, the gold standard was used as a measure for the dollar. It is however no longer used though gold will continue to be a major part of the economy.

Philippines

This is another Asian country that has become a popular gold market. Here the gold is used for several reasons. These include expanding ones portfolio and for insurance. In both these cases, the owner of the asset is able to use the gold in exchange for currency and so on. It is also used to differentiate classes.
