What Is The Ranking Order For Precious Metals?
Secrets about the ranking order for precious metals and what each is used for in today’s market place.
Precious metals are scarce commodities that are becoming harder to find and running out. Most all precious metals have high market values and are traded commodities. Because the markets are constantly changing, it is somewhat difficult to rank these metals over long amounts of time. Also, there is a difference between the value of these metals for investment and their particular values in the field of science and technology.
Current Rankings Based on Market Value
Gold and silver are still the most common investment metals but platinum in recent times has taken prominence in commodity trading. Platinum is often higher than gold in value and is a much more rare precious metal than any of the other investment metals. The specific ranking order for precious metals is hard to define since the other precious metals are used in technology such as cell phones, computers and many other gadgets. These metals include palladium, iridium and ruthenium. These are traded but in a slightly different manner than gold, silver and platinum.
The Other Precious Metals
The ranking of order of precious metals used for electronics and equipment is a bit more ambiguous. Ruthenium, palladium and iridium are used in small amounts to provide fast conducive non-corrosive materials for electronics to work. Each is very rare but they are used in small amounts within these devices. What a single person holds in their hand is somewhat irrelevant, but when you start adding up hundreds of cell phones the quantity of precious metals is quite evident.
Purposes of Precious Metals
Gold, silver and platinum will continue to be marketed for their appeal and value. The other precious metals are quite similar but have different uses in todays society. To put a ranking order for precious metals is difficult because of their different uses. One fact remains however, they all are in limited supply.
