Many investing firms allow you to check your account and monitor everything going on online. That is great if you have that option. If you are feeling a little uncomfortable or scared, make sure you contact the company that has your 401k plan immediately.

Most 401k plans are not insured, not even by the FDIC. That is something that you are going to have to find out by getting in contact with the investment firm that has your specific plan. As mentioned previously you should be able to find out be contact your HR department at work or they should be able to pass you along to someone who can help you. 401k plans are very important to everyone, especially the person investing their hard earned money in it.
